HOLY HOT ON THE HEELS OF LOVE

Not to be confused with Throbbing Gristle's seminal 1979 electronic cut, Swedish multi-instrumentalist HOLY (aka Hannes Ferm)'s newest offering 'Hot on the Heels of Love' is a glittering slice of trippy alt-pop. Existing in the same surreal space as Ariel Pink and Jaakko Eino Kalevi, gently ticking drum machine beats support brassy synth swells as enchanting (harp?) chords chime through the mix. Furthermore, it'd be a crime not to mention the track's incredible accompanying video created by award-winning Stockholm artist Gustaf Holtenäs. Immersing Ferm (who plays the character Aries Ryder alongside other cast members) in a peculiar new world that comes across as one part David Bowie's Labyrinth, one part Salvador Dali painting and another part god knows what, it's certainly worth a watch. -Holly Mullineaux
